Introducing Fran, our new Digital Marketing Manager
Google is making some big changes! From April 21st your top spot on Google’s first page is guaranteed to be in jeopardy unless your website is built for mobile devices, with mobile friendly sites gaining the top spots in mobile phone searches over those that aren’t.
So, what do these changes mean for you and your website? fundamentally, if your website is not mobile friendly then it will appear further down search results when someone searches on a mobile phone. Don’t think this won’t make much of a difference though. 80% of all internet users own a web enabled mobile phone and searches on smart phones are currently growing faster than pc searches, with local searches 20% higher on mobile than PC. Basically, if you want to future proof your site, and preserve all your hard earned SEO results, you’ll want to get your website mobile friendly asap!
If you’re unsure whether your current site is mobile friendly or not, now is the time to check. You can do so here, just type your web address into the box.
Making a website mobile friendly is about more than just making it responsive (fit onto a phone screen). There are many aspects to consider, such as the frequent connection disruptions that affect mobile web users, or how to overcome the battle with autocorrect if you require users to enter their name, all of which should be addressed with in your website. Lucky for you we have a fantastic digital team who are all clued up on making websites mobile. If you would like to talk to us about making your website mobile friendly click here.
