So it’s National Fitness Day everybody! The perfect chance to kickstart your fitness and start taking better care of your health, BUT we all know how hard it can be.
Long working hours, taking care of your family, and trying to have any kind of social life can mean that your fitness slips – it can be hard to make time for the gym or a jog! With this in mind, we decided to put our heads together and create a list of fitness hacks that will make you a healthier, happier and all-round better human being:
Drinking more water has been proven to reduce your cancer risk, improve your mood and make you more productive. It even helps you lose a few pounds as quite often – you’re not peckish, you’re thirsty!
By cutting down on sugar you’ll not only notice that you lose a few pounds, but also that you get better dental health, and a reduced risk of heart disease and diabetes.
A little walk reduces mental fatigue, improves your mental health, it also positively impacts your blood sugar levels. It has also been proven to reduce back pain problems too.
Reduce your stress levels, and combine a little bit of exercise with a little bit of socializing – jumping your local badminton club or swimming class and burn some calories a couple of times a week!
Cycling every morning in the sunlight boosts your body’s level serotonin levels making you feel happier. It has also been proven to improve the quality of your sleep by getting your circadian rhythm into sync so that you get deeper, better sleep as well as trimming your waistline.
If you find it difficult to motivate yourself or find the time to have a walk or a little jog, buddy up with a friend so that you make the time.
Stop staying up so late watching rubbish TV! Research has shown that adults need 7-9 hrs a night, not getting enough affects your brain’s ability to process information including problem-solving and memory. It can also reduce your libido and make you moody – no fun!
Ditch those cheeky Wotsits for a carrot stick or two! Eating small snacks improves your metabolism and helps normalize your blood sugar. Keeping foods such as whole grains, fruits, and veggies around stops you reaching for rubbish!
You should also make sure that you never miss the first meal of the day people! It kick starts your metabolism, helping you stay alert and awake at work!
Modern living has forced us all to become 24/7 people. Make sure you disconnect from time to time and try a long bath before bed. The temperature dip afterwards helps your body make melatonin, the hormone that induces sleep so it’s a great way to kick start the chill out process.
