LITTLE tips for being more productive at work
Read More
This may sound a bit sad… but many of my weekends consist of routine. Not boring routine (in my mind) but a routine all the same. A few too many glasses of wine on a Friday night, followed by a lie in (or BodyPump session if I’ve skipped the wine part), and a late morning venture out to one of Leeds many ‘brunch-eries’. To me, brunch is one of those meals that just seems to solve my regular Saturday culinary conundrum – I want something super tasty, but cannot be bothered to cook. This, alongside the social acceptability of morning drinking as long as it’s accompanied by the word brunch (and preferably ‘bottomless’) makes brunch in Leeds my weekend ritual.
With so many to choose from, it’s hard to know where to start – so here are my top 5 places to brunch in Leeds, from a self confessed brunch-aholic.
Electro Brunch at Gaucho
21-22 Park Row, Leeds, LS1 5JF
At a whopping £45 per head, it’s safe to say I save this one for special occasions. As with Gaucho’s usual menu – their Electro Brunch menu is probably not one for veggies, or dieters for that matter. Your ‘investment’ as I’ll call it gets you unlimited food as well as drinks, and, as a self-confessed brunch lover you can’t keep me away from Eggs Royale or Oven Baked Chorizo Sausage, washed down with an Aperol Spritz, or three!
Bottomless Lunch at Bar Soba
9A Merrion Street, Leeds, LS1 6PQ
There’s nothing particularly ‘girly’ about the offering at Bar Soba (I’m all for gender equality, guys) for me this place is all about a boozy day out with the girls, enjoying what in hindsight is always far too many Mojitos. The food here isn’t strictly ‘brunch-y’ with their pan-Asian style menu, but there’s sure to be something that tickles your fancy; especially when nursing a hangover.
Hepworth’s Deli & Kitchen
21 Thorntons Arcade, Leeds LS1 6LQ
This indie deli come kitchen is the perfect place for a relaxing brunch filled with quality ingredients. Served all day, every day – I can’t lie, even as a meat eater, the Mushroom Benedict or Waffles are a bit of me, alongside a gulp from a Signature Smoothie or black americano. The perfect start to any day out shopping.
The Greedy Pig
58 North St, Leeds, LS2 7PN
Perfect for those days when only a fry up (or steak and pancakes) will do. Don’t let the name fool you, The Greedy Pig is far from a greasy spoon and has an excellent reputation when it comes to comfort food. Combine their seasonal ingredients with the fact they favour good old Yorkshire produce and this menu really is hard to beat; plus, their bacon jam is to die for!
East 59th
Victoria Gate, Leeds, LS2 7AU
There’s nothing like easing yourself into a day of drinking like a brunch at East 59th. This cool, calm and collected find oozes sophistication, with some excellent grub to match, and a rooftop terrace for the few days we manage to get some sunshine. Dine on some of the usual brunch culprits, like Eggs Benedict alongside nachos, burgers and hot dogs for a ‘modern twist on American classics’ that will leave you pining for more.
